The days of the city of Banská Bystrica are held every year in the month of June. It is four days packed with culture of various genres. Individual days create an unforgettable and beautiful atmosphere in the centre of Banská Bystrica.

The city is flooded with art and culture during this period. The days of the city are held on the Square of the Slovak National Uprising, Lazovná Street and Národná Street. The event offers music, theatre, and dance performances, openings, workshops, and various activities for all age groups for visitors and residents of the city. The programme of the event is really diverse and rich. Cultural celebrations give the city of Banská Bystrica new energy and offer a varied programme.

The city days in 2022 started with the award ceremony of the city in the historic town hall. The main centre of the cultural event was Národná ulica, because two anniversaries took place nearby, namely the 95th anniversary of the beginning of the construction of the National House and the 90th anniversary of the construction of a branch of the National Bank of Slovakia. More than 100 events are held at the popular event of the city of Banská Bystrica. More than 50 partners joined the programme. In 2022, the concept of happening was also part of the event for the first time. This means that the programme took place in several nontraditional locations, such as public transport lines, shopping centres, parks, or railway stations. Various dance, music, and acting improvisations took place within public transport.
