After the competition, it is possible to buy a portion of Štiarc for tasting. The event is accompanied by folk music and a game on a heligonka.
The basis of the dish is cleaned, finely chopped potatoes, which are pre-boiled in salted water. Flour is added to them, some give coarse or semi-coarse flour. "The so-called štiarcovník, which is a thick stick, or cook, and continue to cook without stirring for about seven minutes. That is how my mom taught me. Then water is poured in and everything is mixed. No mixer, but by hand, so that the mixture is smooth and there are no lumps. It takes strength to do that. That is why guys help us with mixing at the competition". Recipe according to a resident of the village of Špania Dolina and at the same time a competitor of the cook competition.
