The Bančianska water reservoir is located in the cadastre of the village of Vyhne, it was created in the half 18th century for the needs of the Hofferštólnian mining industry.
Today it is a source of water for the village of Banky. A smaller water reservoir built‚ 4 km northwest of Banská Štiavnica at the end of the Bančianska valley and 300 m south of the village Banky, closed from the east, south and west by wooded hills. The water reservoir, also called Hofferštôlnianska in the past after the Hoffer mining company it served, was of lesser importance and was created sometime in the second half of the 18th century. The volume of the water reservoir located at an altitude of 665 m is 20,000 m³. The catchment area itself for the majority of the surface water flowing into the water reservoir, together with the outflow of water from the reservoir towards the Vyhnianska valley, belong to the Hron basin.
