The Mária shaft was created only after the arrival of the Thurzo-Fugger company in Špania Dolina as one of the newest shafts that began to be dug here.
It is believed that the shaft was created sometime in the 16th century, which was much later than some shafts that had been mined for a long time. In 1629, it was connected to the mine water supply. The Mária shaft stood on steep slopes at the northern foot of the Manor. It is situated at an altitude of 796 meters. It reached a depth of 330 meters. Mining in it gradually decreased and ended definitively in 1774.
