Activity information

Maximilian shaft is the second oldest shaft in Špania Dolina.

Water from the mine aqueduct flowed through the ravine between the Maximilián and Ferdinand shafts, collected on the way to a small reservoir called "tajch". They started digging this shaft in 1567. At the end of the 18th century, its depth reached 320 meters. In 1726, the shaft had two traction machines powered by water from the mine water supply.
