The nature of central Slovakia in the Tihányi manor-house in Banská Bystrica
Tihányi manor-house in Radvaň underwent several reconstructions over the years. It was originally a ground-floor Renaissance building from the first half of the 17th century, the remains of which have been preserved in the northwestern part of the building. In 1819, the building received a classicist form. Further modifications from the 19th century resulted in today's Neo-Renaissance expression. Since 1989, the Natural History Department of the Central Slovak Museum has been located in the listed building of the Tihányi manor-house in Radvaň. In it, visitors can visit the permanent exposition of the Nature of Central Slovakia and various exhibitions of natural history.
The natural history exhibition entitled The Nature of Central Slovakia will allow visitors to learn about geology and all the basic types of natural environment found in central Slovakia. The museum is divided into 8 rooms, in which you can see typical and rare inhabitants of forests, meadows, mountain streams, lakes, fields, wetlands, as well as representatives accompanying human dwellings.
In each of the rooms, there is an interesting activity for children, which will allow them to get to know and learn something about the geology and fauna of central Slovakia. Children love to discover, catch and explore. These activities that will allow them not to be afraid and encourage their interaction.
