Activity information

The Halčianska water reservoir was created in the second half of the 18th century and originally, together with the Belianska reservoir, belonged to the Geramba Mining Union. Water from it, together with water from the Belianska water reservoir, was used to power the towers and for the needs of the smelter in Kozelnícka valley.

In 1906, Geramba's Union sold its property, including the tanks, to the Hungarian mining government. The Halčianska reservoir was then used for fish farming. On 19 April 1909, it was handed over to the Mining and Forestry Academy for fish breeding and practical teaching of the subject of fishing. From the 1970s until the demise of the Rudné bane plant at Nová shaft in 1993, it served as an auxiliary source of service water for the plant's treatment plant (it was pumped into the Jasenica reservoir and from there by pumps to Nová shaft). It still serves as a water source for the Dinas plant in Banská Belá. The main source of water for the Halčianska reservoir was the Halčianska stream, which collected water from a large area around the village of Halča. Through the Halčianska ditch, it was also possible to bring water to the Halčianska water reservoir from the Jasenica stream, which flows from Banský Studenec. This is how the Kolpašká water reservoirs and the Halčianska water reservoir were connected. It was used especially when there was an excess of water in Kolpašské water reservoirs.

The Halčianska water reservoir is a national cultural monument of the site, which is on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.

- maximum depth of 13 m
- volume 257 thousand m3
- length of dam 123 m
- dam width 8.6 m
