Activity information

National cultural monument declared in 1955

The Burgher's house on Bakossava Street No. 4 was built in the Renaissance style in the first half of the 17th century, while the exact year is unknown. It is located in the city monument reserve. It was modified in the 19th century and declared a national cultural monument in 1955. There is not much information about the past of this building in historical sources, as according to the employees of the city museum in Banská Bystrica, it is estimated that the documents and writings about this building were destroyed in a fire in 1761. Today, the historic burgher's house is a boarding house with a restaurant, characterised by a very good name to which its architectural uniqueness and perhaps even a bit of historical mystery certainly contribute.
