The building of the mining guardhouse or knocker is one of the monuments of the famous era of mining in Špania Dolina
The original buildings of the mining administration are located on the square in Špania Dolina. One of them is the mining guardhouse or Knocker from the 16th century. The historic 620-year-old building originally served as the seat of the mining administration; it was the seat of the mining inspector and mine supervisors. The building of the mining guardhouse or knocker is one of the monuments of the famous era of Spanish mining. The so-called sound signaling device was placed in the wooden tower. It was used to summon miners to work, hence the name Klopačka (Knocker). The building has Renaissance engraved painted decoration on the facade. In 1996, Knocker underwent a complete reconstruction and modernisation, which allowed it to shine in its full beauty and at the same time meet the demanding requirements of today's customers. There is currently a nice family-type guesthouse in Knocer with pleasant accommodation and a good restaurant.
In the interior of Mining Knocker there is also a small private museum - Museum of lace, introducing visitors to mining and traditional folk art, typical of this village. This exhibition includes Špania Dolina copper cups and unique Špania Dolina laces.
