National cultural monument declared in 1955
Below the Square of the Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica is Dolná street, which, like the Square of the Slovak National Uprising, is surrounded by historic colourful houses. One of them is the Burgher house no. 16, which has been a national cultural monument since 1955.
The Burgher house was built in 1590. It was subsequently modified in 1600 and 1625, in the 18th and 19th centuries. The floor plan of the building is in the shape of the letter L, two floors with a basement. The Burgher house is included in the Municipal Monument Reserve. Smooth facades gave way in the 19th century to facades with a relief tectonic division with cordon and crown cornices, window sills and window cornices, or pediments. Art Nouveau enriched this bourgeois house with distinctive plant ornaments.
There are commemorative photos (apparently of the original owners) in the entrance hall on the left. Mr. Ferdinand "Nándor" Olejček (b. 1896, d. 1980) and Mrs. Elenka Olejčeková (b. 1931, d. 2001).
