The Baroque fountain in Kremnica is one of the smaller yet distinctive architectural landmarks that contribute to the character of Štefánik Square — the heart of this royal mining town.
The fountain dates back to the 18th century and represents a valuable example of Baroque urban design and sculptural work in a regional context. It is located in the northern part of the square and was originally complemented by a statue of Neptune, the god of water, which was later removed and is planned to be restored. Owing to its location among other landmarks — such as the plague column, burgher houses and the mint — the fountain is a popular spot for walks, photography and relaxation while exploring the mining and minting history of Kremnica. The fountain is listed as a national cultural monument and is easily accessible in the town centre, which as a whole forms an important heritage conservation area.
