Activity information

The burgher house at Štefánikovo Square No. 11/21 is a valuable historic building in the heart of Kremnica, listed as part of the town’s monument reserve documenting the development of urban life in this mining town from the Middle Ages to the modern period. It is located directly on the main square, a place that for centuries served as the centre of social, commercial and administrative life.

The building represents a typical urban residential house forming part of the block structure of the southern section of the square. Its architectural design and façade reflect construction styles and urban principles linked to the dynamic development of Kremnica as a prosperous mining and minting centre.

In contrast to the monumental architecture of sacral and public buildings, House No. 11/21 illustrates the everyday life of the town’s inhabitants – burghers, craftsmen, merchants and families whose daily activities, businesses and social ties were closely connected with mining and metal processing.

Although the interior is not generally open to the public as an exhibition, the façade and its position within the urban structure of the square provide visitors with an authentic image of traditional urban living. The building thus stands as a visual witness to the everyday lives of generations who shaped the vibrant culture of this mining centre and contributed to the historical identity of Kremnica.
